The fuel level sensor alerts the PCM of the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. This trouble code will not prevent your vehicle from running.
The most common result s is being unable to tell the fuel level of your vehicle. However, if left unsolved, this code could increase the likelihood of your vehicle running out of gas putting the driver into an inconvenient situation.
What just happened to me earlier was, I needed a jump so i brought my battery jumper out and placed it over and on the air filter or carburetor cover and radiator.
It sits more sturdy there and it can reach the turminals.

Well i placed. The red cable to the positive. At the same time the engine was turning over the battery jumper slid moved a bit. Causing the positive cable to snap off leaving the negative intacked on the negative terinal while i jumped out of the cab to undue the thenjumper that is when i noticed what had happen.
I quickly turned off the jumper and disengaged the negative cable. Then my truck started making a loud clicikng sound. I drove it around a bit. Then went home. Three hours later i went to start it up. I jumped it. Took off and notice my engine light on now. And now my fixd code is PO Im suspecting.
Because something had to happen when neg cable was left attached to the battery while the battery jumper was connected and in the ON position. Im thinking something backfired. Please somebody that has the knowledge please tell me what to look for and do. Im a Damsel in distress! A dead battery by itself can cause electrical anomalies, and is more likely the reason the PCM was confused about fuel level.
First, fix the battery issue so you do not have recurring dead battery problems. Then, have someone clear the code and drive normally. If it comes back, you have a problem at the fuel tank. If it does not come back, it was just an issue due to electrical fluctuations with a dead battery and a jump start, which you can disregard.
I had this problem with my Astro van on the right blinker, I bought a new harness for the bulb Wich came with one wire instead of two, I connected the one wire and disregarded the second wire and lights work perfectly. Code P Instructions say not to let someone try to sell me a whole new sensor unit or fuel pump until I visually check the wires to the sensor looking for chafing, disconnect, or frayed wires.
I went to an auto supply store and they could not find any such units for my car and tried to find fuel sensors and pumps for other cars that might work on my Hyundai Azera LE.

Join Us! P fuel sending but gauge okay. The P seems to, sadly, be a common problem on Nissans reading the forum posts here. Got a P SES code, indicating fuel level sensor output has a problem. But, the fuel gauge reads perfectly fine. This happened when the tank got very very low, lower than I usually let it go still a few gallons in the tank, though.
I reset the code, filled the tank, and I'm watching to see if it happens again. Is this a common phenomena when the sensor starts to go? Is it the case where at first, it outputs slightly out-of-range values on a low tank, and then quits altogether? Monitor when get low again if it come on again than it is poss to replace the sending units. I agree with streamcast, but try not to go very low to avoid any problems or replaced the sending unit. Well, a day or two after my original post, the sending unit became much more unreliable, so it was clear it has to be replaced. Now comes the sad story I take the car to a local repair place not a Nissan dealer. He checks the sensors, and finds that the sending unit is indeed bad, but ALSO that the 12v line from the ECM back to the sending unit is bad. It's only about 4. He runs a temp wire from the ECM back to the sending unit, and that all works 12v openbut the sending unit's output is still bad, so it does have to be replaced.
This is where it gets rich. I have a 3rd party extended warranty on this car from Zurich. It's comprehensive. It paid to replace the CD player and the broken driver's seat frame. The repair garage says they don't want to just bypass the bad wire in the harness from the ECM and run a new single wire, because if anything every goes wrong, they are stuck with a big liability.
Zurich won't pay for that unless he can locate exactly where the harness wire has failed. He tells them he has to take the harness out and test it along its length to find that remember, this thing snakes through the car from gas tank to the engine, up inside the firewall, etc, etc.
They say they won't pay for him to do that either, because he hasn't identified a "covered repair" yet. They said if Nissan would issue them a statement in writing that the harness had to be replaced, they would pay for it. But of course, the Nissan dealers around here won't do that because they are not working on the car.
So I had to take the car back from him, unfixed. I'll try it at a Nissan dealer. They might have more clout with the insurer i. Onward with the next update. I took the car to a Nissan dealer instead.Play Now. Check the "Possible Causes" listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors.

July 19, There is a common issue with the fuel level sender units in Nissan vehicles.
The trends are that the senders start failing before the k miles; that is actually way below the fuel pump life expectancy, which is around k miles. If your vehicle still is under warranty, it is advised to take your car to your Nissan dealer and fix it usually at no cost; also, you can research online to see if there are some recalls in your vehicle.
The advantage of doing this is that you will receive a new fuel pump. When the fuel level sender units fail, you will start having erratic fuel gauge reading where you may have the gauge showing an empty tank when you actually have a full tank. It may also stay at a same spot all the time regardless of full or empty tank. Another symptom is a malfunction lamp illumination with the code reading P This code tells you that the PCM is sensing a high voltage output indicating that an unreasonable fuel level meaning that the tank has an impossible level of fuel.
In my case, I ha d a Nissan Murano with this issue; t his vehicle comes with two fuel level sending units: one that goes in the driver's side attached to the fuel pump and the second in the passenger's side attached to a hanger.

Both units we re faulty. Similar vehicles that bring this setup include only the Nissan Z to my knowledge. However, the Z does not share the same part numbers with the Murano. For this job you will need a socket set, flat screwdrivers, rags, a small hammer, a 4 inch PVC coupling you may need it, trust meand both level sending units left and right. The level sending units I will be using are Dorman for the left one and Dorman for the right one. I chose to replace both units because is one of those jobs that you replace the faulty sending unit and at the few days the other one goes bad giving you the same problem.
To begin, it is important to disconnect the battery especially that you will working with fuel; you do not want anything that can produce spark and initiate a fire. It just takes a little spark to ignite gasoline vapors. The fuel pump and and the hanger have an access door below the rear seat.
You will not need to remove the fuel tank for this vehicle. You will need to unbolt the rear seat in both left and right rear seats; they are bolted to the floor by two bolts. I do not remember their size but they range from 12mm to 14mm.
After removing the bolts, the seats will rock up and you can hold them with the seat belts so they do not bother you. In the floor you will see two access doors--one left and one right--that are hold by four rotating latches in each side; you turn them counterclockwise which makes them to align with the door slots.

Your Armada will get the P code when the signal coming from the fuel tank indicates that there is more fuel than is mathematically possible for the fuel tank to hold. This trouble code indicates that there is something wrong with the reading from the fuel tank. Most of the time, the only symptom is going to be the faulty fuel gauge, but there are exceptions.
Here are the most common symptoms of P The fuel level sensor is one of the most common reasons that P appears in your diagnostic codes.
The wiring coming to and from the fuel pump can go bad over time. A shorted or damaged wiring harness can lead to a bad signal going to the fuel gauge, as well as the powertrain control module. Being that the harness is under the vehicle, and has a decent distance to the computer, it can short out or become damaged. As it goes down it sends a signal to the fuel gauge telling you how much fuel you have left in the tank.
The first thing that you are going to want to do is pull any other trouble codes with an OBD-II scanner. Then clear them all and see if you can duplicate the issue again by driving your Armada around. While driving around see if the fuel tank looks like it is consistently in place, or if it erratic. Start with taking a look at the wiring harness first. The video above on this page will help you do that.
P is challenging to diagnose, due to the location of the fuel level sensor and wiring. Good luck diagnosing your Nissan Armada.

Wiring The wiring coming to and from the fuel pump can go bad over time. Gas Tank If the gas tank gets too corroded, or damaged, it can cause the P code.

Brissett has completed only 60 percent of his passes, has a mere 10 TD passes to seven interceptions, and is still learning the full scope of the offensive system as he joined the team right at the start of the regular season. Gaines can combine to slow down WR T. Theoretically, there is no way the Bills can lose this game.
The Colts are awful, as their 3-9 record suggests. Buffalo has the better roster from top to bottom, and that should carry the day. Last week in their loss to Jacksonville, the Colts were playing three rookie CBs on passing downs.
Combine that with the Colts inability to generate a pass rush (just 20 sacks), and the Buffalo offense should be able to take advantage, even with the inexperienced Peterman expected to be under center. MY PICK: Bills 20, Colts 10. Hilton is the Colts most dynamic offensive player.
The Bills have scored twice on their first possession of the third quarter, both field goals. The Bills (26th, 27th) and Colts (27th, 29th) are two of the three, and the Giants (28th, 32nd) are the other team. Bills Preston Brown is called for pass interference against Saints Michael Hoomanawanui. I know how much he puts into this organization, to this team.
